Azure RBAC โ€“ Who Gets Access to What? ๐Ÿ”

You run a tech startup, and your team needs access to your Azure cloud resources. You donโ€™t want interns accidentally deleting VMs or junior developers accessing sensitive databases, right? Thatโ€™s where Azure RBAC (Role-Based Access Control) comes in!

๐Ÿ”น What is Azure RBAC?
Azure Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) is a permission system that lets you define who can do what with Azure resources. Instead of giving full admin access to everyone (BIG security risk! ๐Ÿ˜ฌ), you assign specific roles based on job function.

Take a look at this very nice one minute video by Arturo Lucatero
on RBAC:

๐Ÿ”น Real-Life Example in Nigeria:
๐Ÿš€ TechAbby.io is starting its blog & services on Azure. Hereโ€™s how RBAC would help:
โœ… Developers โ€“ Can deploy code but canโ€™t change security settings.
โœ… Finance Team โ€“ Can view billing but canโ€™t modify cloud resources.
โœ… Security Engineers โ€“ Can monitor threats but canโ€™t access customer data.

This way, everyone gets the access they needโ€”no more, no less. ๐Ÿš€
Key Azure RBAC Roles include
๐Ÿ”น Owner โ€“ Full control (Can manage access & delete resources)
๐Ÿ”น Contributor โ€“ Can create & manage resources but canโ€™t assign roles
๐Ÿ”น Reader โ€“ Can view resources but canโ€™t modify anything

๐Ÿ’ก Task for You
If you had to assign yourself an Azure RBAC role, which one would it be and why? Go to the Azure portal and assign yourself the least privileged Azure role and Comment below! ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿพ

๐Ÿ”— Remember: Access control is like Jollof rice seasoning, too much or too little ruins everything. ๐Ÿ˜†
